Photographs of the 1000 Islands
by Richard Margolis
For
the past several years I have been privileged to be a summer visitor
to the 1000 Islands, NY, exploring the St. Lawrence River, mostly
by boat, collecting damaged propellers along the way. I've heard
that there is an impressive "Propeller Garden" somewhere,
but have not found it yet. What I have found are subjects for both
photographs and stories—fascinating things that have historic
connections that prompt wonder and perspective.
This site is a collection of landmarks I have photographed so
far. I invite you to browse them and enjoy. I also invite you
to send suggestions for future landmarks, including relics of the
past or new castles, local treasures, big trees and small churches,
international bridges and floating restaurants. Feel free to send
me information about the places you would take a visitor if you
wanted to show them the things that make this place special.
Thank you,
Richard Margolis
